Niagara Gorge

Location

This short walk in the Niagara Falls area is a close up look at the whirlpool and Niagara gorge. We started at the whirlpool state park in NY and headed north towards the power station and devils hole. A little bit more time and you could also head south from the whirlpool back towards the Falls. You can walk one direction down in the gorge and come back along the rim trail.

Only a few hours are needed to see this area and you don't need to be too fit. About 300ft (100m) of height variation on a well created path with steps. In March there wasn't too much ice on the steps to make it dangerous and the path next to the gorge is flat and safe.
